  1. Food in olden times differed a great deal from the food nowadays. Long ago people used to eat three meals a day, breakfast, dinner, and supper. People used to work two hours every morning before breakfast. This consisted of potatoes and home skimmed milk, and it was usually eaten at eight o'clock.
    As there was usually a big family in every house at that time, the table would be in the middle of the floor and the household would sit around it. Dinner which was eaten at about two o'clock consisted of potatoes, cabbage and turnips. Very little bacon was used at that time, but fish was used to a great extent.
