  1. 1. Long ago if a child got the "Thrush" the old people would put a gander's beak into the child's mouth and the gander's breath would cure the child.
    2. There are green leaves growing in marshy places, called "slaness", and they are used for healing cuts, and stopping the bleeding.
    3. People rub chalk to warts, to banish them.
    4. Soap and sugar, or cream and flour mixed together are used for healing boils.
    5. Rock-candy is boiled in water and mixed with the beaten up whites of eggs, and given to children for colds.
