  1. The Gabha Beag was a grand-uncle of Paddy Nolan's. He was also a relation to the Nolan's of Moybella. He was sent to shoot a landlord, he lay in ambush inside the fence near the fort of John Cremin's field of Ballydonohue. This landlord came on with two soldiers armed one at each side to guard him. The Gabha Beag fired a shot out of his gun and missed. He ran down through the centre of the field. They ordered him to halt and he was made prisoner. He was sentenced to three swings in the gallows. He was in prison for some time. He was to be hanged in Gunsbouragh, his people sent him a shirt with a steel collar hidden in the band. He told some friend in prison that he had a steel collar in the band and he could not be hanged. He was
