- Long ago there lived here a man by the mane of McCarty. He had a big castle on the edge of the sea. The ruins are still to be seen on the castle green. On the entrance to the men's strand there is a huge hole which is called the "cat's hole". The boys around caught every cat they met. One evening they caught a cat and tied a cord to his tail and let him into the hole. He went astray so he never again came back that is why they call it the cat's hole.(continues on next page)
