  1. Long ago there was a man named Jerry Connor. There was a fort in his land. Three nights in succession he dreamt there was gold in the fort under a flag in a certain spot. Connor and a neighbour of his set out about midnight and began to dig a hole in the fort at the spot he saw in his dream. They had to dig several feet down before they met the flag. They were very tired and sat down, and while they were sitting, a white hare came and made a circle around the hole they had dug. They tried
