It was in December I well remember the date being twenty four,
When a raiding party all masked and armed came to Bid Sheehy's door
The captain called out for volunteer John,
"Out with your uniform or you won't live long".
John answered back with a voice loud and bold,
"You'll ne'er get my uniform till my blood runs cold".
Then they smashed in the windows and likewise the door
Till with foul deeds of vengeance they stood on the floor.
