  1. The Ballyeagh Fight took place in the year 1833, between the Cooleens and Lawlors. They used sticks and stones as weapons. It is related that seventeen or eighteen people were drowned when they took to boats to cross the river to escape to Mahara side. This was the "wind up" of faction fights in the locality.
