The old castle ruin I have mentioned belonged to the O'Connors. It probably belonged to the Fitzmaurice later and was destroyed about 1600 to prevent it from falling into English hands. One Stack who offered to help Carew was murdered there.I got this information from my teacher Mr. Beasley- Collector
