- In olden times the people used use many cures for certain diseases and some of these are used up to the present day. Some of these cures were employed for the whooping cough, the "thrush", toothache and so on.
For the whooping cough:
The parent of the child suffering goes out before a man with a grey horse and says "man with the grey horse what is the cure for the whooping cough" and whatever he recommends she uses it and it will be cured.
