  1. Song

    One evening as yon towering

    I
One evening as yon towering hills the golden sun did screen
There lonely strayed a poor exile far from the Isle of Green
With broken heart and tearful eye he watched the rising moon
Till at length his thoughts fell back once more to the shades of Sweet Drumgoon.
    II
As down his cheeks the tears did flow as he spoke so mournfully
O Id love old Breffnies hils my dear old home to see
And hear the blackbird on each tree, pour forth her glad tune to me
That echoes through the blooming groves of Sweet Drumgoon.
    III
Twas there I spent lifes brightest hours free from all clouds
