    built of stone and it is thatched. It is called a byre. Each cow is tied in between two stakes called "bails". They are never tied by the horns or legs. The bails are tied at the top with an iron hasp.
    They are home made. Some cows are tied by the neck with a chain and other cows are tied with a trammel.
    Some people hang up a branch of a Rowan tree on May morning to bring luck on the stock. Horses are tied to a manger with a head-collar. Our stable is built of stone and it is thatched.
    My fathers fodders the horses with hay and oats every morning and evening. He brings the horses to the forge when they want shoes on them and the blacksmith
