    of meal, and put it into the churn and carried all home to Corroneary. John Patrick Reynolds of Aughlough was the best swimmer in this district. He was so good that people called him the duck. He could swim with a box of matches on his back without ever letting the water touch them.
    In Cavan, about a mile from Avra, there lived a man named Pat Masterson. He was supposed to be the best walker in his district. He thought it nothing to walk any journey. He often walked to Ballmagovern fair with about twenty head of cattle, and what was worse he had to walk back.

  2. About fifty years ago there was a big fight in Arva in which two parties were engaged. A crowd of police came on the scene to make arrests and some of the men fled and James McNerney of Camber jumped an angle of Arva lough and cheered when he got to the other side.
