  1. In those days a young man named McAliney lived in the townland of Leganomer and who desperate from hunger ran from Leganomer to Aughavass where there was placed a boiler making stirabout for the hungry ones. The food was served out in large and small quantities according to the size of the family. McAliney being there first that day placed himself on top of the boiler and when others came as desperate as he was they threw him into the boiler where where he was scalded to death.
