Some people say that if a swallow builds her nest in a house this year and that she does not next year the household will have bad luck. When the cuckoo comes early there will be a bad summer but if she comes late it will be good.
- If you kill a clock you will get seven sins off your soul. It is said if you kill spiders when you are alive the others will eat you when you are dead. If you have warts and you hang a snail on a sloe bush they will be gone when the snail is withered.
- If a swan flies across a house some of the inhabitants will die before the year is out. When the rooster crows at night danger is at hand. A straw on a hens tail is the sign of a visitor.
