  1. George's Lough. How it got it's name.
    There is a lake near Ballinamore which is called George's Lough. The name arises from this little story.
    Long ago there was a woman who wanted to get the power of taking butter off milk. To do this she had to cut the hand off a dead body. One night she went to Oughteraugh graveyard. She went to the grave at Oughteraugh and dug up a man's body. After this she cut the hand off the body. Then she took it to the lake and threw it in. The man's name was George, hence the name George's Lough.
