  1. Ye Roman Catholics of this Irish nation
Pray pay attention both one and all
Whilst I endeavour now, and will forever,
The blessed Fr. Maquire to recall.
Who now is taken, we hope by angels,
To rest on high in a happy home.
Our religious champion, both true and loyal,
He always conquered for the Church of Rome.

The blessed Maquire, he left home for college
To improve his knowledge n lore and truth.
A rich lady fair, who lived near Kildare,
Strove to ensnare this religious youth.
She brought a receipt of a large estate
To the college gate, and to him did say,
''If you marry me, you will see
    That a lord you'll be
    On your wedding day.''
