  1. It is said that in a lake namely Lough Allen, there is a Mermaid. About 6 mths ago, a man whose name was Pat Mc Gourty, was going to Drumshambo to a fair, it was early in the morning and he saw the girl sitting on a rock over the lake, she seemed to be knitting, she was shaped like any other girl round the head and shoulders but she had a fishe's tail. She had long platted hair down her back, when she saw the man, she dived into the water again, and that was the last sight he saw of her.
