    Once upon a time there lived two men.

    Once upon a time there lived two men. One of them was called big Pat, and the other man was called little Pat.
    Big Pat had three cows, and little Pat had only one old cow. One day little Pat's cow broke into big Pat's cows, they began to fight, and big Pat's cows killed little Pat's cow.
    When little Pat saw this he did not know what to do. So he thought of a plan, he tied a shilling in each corner of the skin and he brought it to market to sell it.
    When the people came to look at the skin. He told them that every time they would hit the skin a shilling would hop out.
    The people believed this, so he would get any money he would ask for the skin.
    He got a hundred pounds for the skin. When he went home he told big Pat all the money he got for the skin.
    The latter went and killed his cows, he brought the skins to the market to sell them. When he asked a big
