  1. A Ghost Story
One night as John Whitney was coming off his ceilidh it was about twelve o'clock and as he was coming near home he met a lot of men on horse back and they all said "Good night John" and the leader of the crowd said, "Is there any horse for John" and they said "no" but we have a calf" and John was left sitting on the calf and he was told not to speak and they would leave him back at home. So they rode on till they reached the Shannon and the horses all leaped it and so did the calf and John said "Speak or speak not that was a very good leap for a calf" and he was left the other side of the Shannon and it took him three days to get home.
