  1. Travelling folks still call to the houses in this district. There are two families that call often for the last 6 or 7 years. They are the McDonnaghs and the [?]. When they come to he houses they bring small things with them such as pictures broaches collar studs and medals. The people generally buy something from them and they stay two or three nights in the one place. The make a tent from rags and bags and they sleep in it at night. When they come to the house if they have nothing to sell they ask for charity and they like best to get money. They would take anything else they got. They have ponies and carts to carry them round. They come in families and camp along the road. When there is a big fair or when the show is in mohill they camp near the town. There is another traveller who calls to the houses. Micky O'Neill. He gathers bottles so that he can get money to buy drink
