  1. There was once a king who lived in Connaught and he was married. He had three sons, but his wife died and he got married again. This was a wicked bad woman and she did all in her power to get them sent away.
    One day she met a hen-woman who gave her a pack of cards and told her to play a game with the kings sons and that she could not be beaten. The hen-woman then told her to say that whoever should win the game could make the others do as he wished
    All went well, and at last the game started. The Queen won the first and second games but was beaten in the third. She then commanded the two sons who were
