  1. In olden times, the people used to eat only two meals a day, but they used to eat as much at one meal as the people eat now in one day. The times they ate was at ten o'clock in the morning and at three o'clock in the evening. The people used to eat cake and a roasted calf at ten o'clock and potatoes and buttermilk in the evening. Any person that would not have buttermilk would have salt and water. They always went out to work before eating any food. Any people that would have plenty of potatoes would have them for supper, but if they had none they would be without any.
    The people that had a table used to hang it up on the wall so that it would not be broken. The people used to kill calves, rabbits, hares and other animals for meat. Fish was very hard caught in them times and they would be out fishing for a day before they would catch anything of any good. They would not have any eggs as they had no hens. Before going to bed, they would put some potatoes in the fire and roast them. Then they would lift them up and eat them. When they would be eating out of a pot and
