  1. Long ago there lived a Landlord in Curnee, that was very cruel. Anybody that displeased him, had to pay for it. One day as he was smoking in one of his rooms, the smoke from a shoemaker's house came in by a breeze. He was very vexed, and immediately he sent an order to the shoemaker to have his house knocked down before morning. That was the law in those days by that cruel Landlord. When the shoemaker heard this, he was very annoyed and he said to himself "My poor house is going to be knocked down and just because a whiff of smoke
