  1. There was once a poor blacksmith named Will Cooper. One day St. Peter came to Will to shoe his horse but instead of paying Will for shoeing the horse he gave him three wishes. He told Will to wish for whatever he liked in those wishes. Will's first wish was that anybody who would sit down in his chair would not be able to get up until he would tell them. His second wish was if anybody went up on his apple tree they would not be able to get down until he would tell them. His third wish was if anybody went into his purse they would not be able to get out until he would tell them.
    Soon after Will sold himself to the devil and the devil gave Will plenty of money; but the devil told Will that he would have to go with him in ten years. Will said he would go. When the
