  1. In olden times the Irish people did not believe in Doctors, and for colds and other diseases. There were what they called home quacks to make up cures out of herbs and other ingredients.
    One old cure they had for a cold was, boil some buttermilk take off the curds and sweeten to taste with sugar and flavour with garlic.
