  1. One night as I carelessly strayed from my home,
    In search of diversion I eagerly roved,
    Its into a dance house I chanced for to walk,
    Where I was much delighted with comical talk.
    (Spoken:)
    But just as I entered inside of the door I am charmed alarmed, surprised and overjoyed at the hearing of a beautiful old national air played by musician who was comodiously seated in the upper end of the barn (Sing away)
    Sure then I sat down well contented and pleased,
    Although I was crushed I heard what was said,
    A lad and a lassie commenced for to court,
    Buts its little they knew they were heard by the poet.
    (Spoken)
    Of course its little they knew I was so eagerly commemorating the secrecy of their chat but they might not altogether suppose I was so stupid as to keep a deaf ear to such comical cramboes and jocular subjects as were at that time liberally and gracefully introduced on both sides. But still I could not refrain from laughing seeing the boy striving to fix a false smile on himself with forged countenance and childish smiles;
    Muryadh! says I to myself but its snugly you can fix up the screen of deception
    Though your caus has a little resemblance of a natural smile; as a horse's tooth has to a lapster's claw
