  1. There is an old castle in Aughery and one in Furnace. The castle in Aughery is in ruin for the last 100 years. It is in the townland of Aughery in Dromod in Co. Leitrim. The people who owned it were scaulded and the castle was burned. It was owned by Tiernan O'Rourke, Prince of Breffni and he was coming home to it and was in Boyle and he saw the flames of it and knew it was his castle and went no further. The Castle in Furnace was owned by three men who used to melt iron and got broken up and left the country and the castle went in ruin.
