- People long ago used to have four feeds a day. They used to have their breakfast in the morning about 10 O'Clock and had dinner about 1 O'Clock in the day and had tea at 6 O'Clock in the evening and Supper at 9 O'Clock at night. People used to work before breakfast and had to be called in to it. People used to eat porridge before the breakfast and then eat potatoe cake that would be made at night and fried on the pan and drink tea. They used to eat potatoes and salt and buttermilk for dinner. They always used to eat porridge for their tea and potatoes boiled for supper. Potatoe bread was usually eaten. It was made from boiled potatoes mixed with salt and flour and made into ring and put on the pan and fried. Fish and bacon and kid and rabbit were eaten long ago. The vegetable they liked best was potatoes. People were very fond of eating a feed of potatoes before going to bed and eating as many eggs as they could at Easter. Tea was first used about 80 years ago as people did not know how to make it. They used to boil the tea and strain it and eat the tea leaves and were at that until a person showed them how to make it. People used to use porringers.
