  1. Once upon a time there was a man and woman going to be married and their names were Johnie Mulvey and Annie McQueeney. They lived in the parish of Gowel. The day before they were going to be married the man was round looking for a shirt, and he got one in some of the houses.
    The next morning they went to get married but they had no bridesmaid or groom and the priest went looking for one. There was a house beside the chapel but they would not go, and the priest said "If you only came as far as the door and look up it will do." so the man went with the priest, and stood at the door.
