    but the cells can be seen distinctly with holes about six inches in diameter to let in air. The castle where Seán o Gieann lived was three storey high. It is surrounded by good rock land and its surroundings in general is a great contrast to the surroundings of the jail. Some of it fell about thirty years ago but it was repaired again by a Society at that time. The purpose of this society was to preserve old places of note but the original plan of castle was slightly changed.
