  1. There is a huge stone in our field. This stone is supposed to have been thrown from Sheemore by Ossian, a giant, to hit the castle at Dangan, the seat of the Chieftains OBeirne. It fell short of the Castle by almost 800 yards.
    It remained there in the townland of Dangan OBeirne for a thousand years, until a despoiler got possession of these lands. He employed men to break it into fragments. After doing this, he met with an untimely end, as he committed suicide by drowning himself in
