  1. Whip making.
    Long long ago there lived in the district, a man named Gaffney - a whip maker.
    He got a long cloth and cut it into very thin strips and then he got some very strong linen thread, he twisted them together very hard and tied them.
    He then got an ash "plant" and pared it, he tied the two together with wax end and painted the stick.
    He sold a lot of whips.
    A man named White lived here too, he made soap. He used butter that was gone bad? and he put berries? through the melted fat. He put it on a slow fire. He had a square dish to put soap in, many people bought it.
