  1. In this parish of Kiltoghert there are two graveyards:
    1. Jamestown in the village of Jamestown slopes northwards towards the Shannon. There were trees growing in it up to a few years ago when it was cleared.
    The church yard which is distinct from the graveyard contains a tomb-stnoe dated 500 a.d. and on which there is an illegible inscription in ancient Irish. There are not any crosses ornamented or otherwise of any historic importance in this grave-yard. Here are the ruins of an old Franciscan abbey in which many of those who fell in the confederate war were buried. One
