  1. There was a beautiful mansion in Crotta, Lixnaw long ago. There was a beautiful tree growing in front of the mansion. It was called the lady tree.
    All the old gentlemen who lived in this mansion were supposed to hide gold under this tree. Three men in the district dreamt of the gold on the same night and for several nihgts. After some time they agreed to go to dig for the gold. They could not go digging until after 12 o'clock at night.
    This certain night they dug, and dug until they met a big flag. Then out jumped a big mighty black pig and chased the three men. They ran for their lives and had to cross a pond of water. The pig could not cross the pond. They got such a fright that they did not attempt to dig anymore
