    Not far from this fort are the remains of what seems to have been a cultivated flower garden. Traces of the flowers beds still remain. It is supposed that an old Monastery dedicated to St. Benignus once stood there and that this is part of the old Monastery garden once tended and cared for by the monks. The field in which the fort stands still bears the name of Kill Benign (Cill Beinín).
    An old grave yard is supposed to have stretched from the Monument through the fort field to the back of the convent. When digging the foundation for the wall surrounding the Convent old bones were found which
