There are many fairs held in this district. In Lixnaw there is a pig fair held every second Monday. The pigs are sold according to weight but sometimes they are bought by jobbers outside the selling ground. In Listowel there are three important fairs on the 13th May, 25th July and the 28th of October.
The horse fairs are held every first Thursday of a quarter. In Ardfert on the 9th of July is held the fair of the "spunnanes". In Abbeydorney the fair of the cross on the 1st December as the local people say three weeks and three days from Christmas.
