    wall, on which it is supposed ladders were placed to climb from each storey. The doorway is placed 15' above the ground. Over the doorway and about 40' from the ground there is a roughly built opening, the use of which is not known. It may have been used for the purpose of lighting the tower, or for the purpose of defending the doorway in case of attack.
