  1. Long ago it was supposed that a crock of gold was hidden in Ballinagar Wood near Lixnaw. One night five men dreamt that the gold was hidden under a flag in a certain field. When night came they went to dig for the gold. They had just begun to dig when they were hunted by large birds like turkeys. But they went again in search of the gold. This time they were hunted by a large bull. Many years later the crock was dug out and found to be full of sea shells.
