  1. Long ago many games were played at wakes one of which was -
    Selling the Old Cow.
    This game was played as follows.
    An old cow was bought and sold and her skin was sent to the tanner. There was a rhyme in connection with this game which is as follows - "If the tanner does not tan it and tan it well it will be hung on a nail in hell, if the nail in hell crack it will be hung on the Devil's back" One of the boys repesented the old cow and he was tanned.
    The Bees.
    This was another game wich was played. One boy sat on a chair and about a score of others came with their mouths filled with water humming like bees. The queen bee sitting on
