  1. In the village of Ballyskea there is a field and it is called Pairce on Asal the why it is called Pairce an asal is because long ago there used to be a lot of thistles growing in the field and there used to be a black ass let in to eat them. There is another field called Biddy Early's field because long ago there was an old woman living in a house in that field and she used to be up very early in the morning and she used to go to bed very early in the evening and the people called her Biddy Early.
