  1. There are many old ruins in this parish. There is a ruin of an old castle in the village of Menlough. This castle is placed in ruins since the 16th Century.
    There is a story pretaining to it. Hy-Many comprised of all south - Galway which came from the name "Mainnín" who was the chief of this district from 327 - 357.
    This man died and the next chief was Malachy O'Kelly who came down from the shores of Lough Neagh. He built castles at Monivea, Killaclogher, Garbally, Castle-Blakney and Moylough, to keep out the Burkes of
