  1. There is an old castle in Menlough. It was built in the fourteenth century. It belonged to O'Kelly, but now nobody owns it. It was placed in ruin about one hundred and fifty years ago. It is situated on the side of the road. There were men killed in this castle, and there ^ one man seen saying his penance beside it. There are only the four walls left of the castle. There is no tower, door, or window in it.
There is also ruin of an old church in the district. It was built about 300 years ago.
