  1. Before the National Schools were established some pupils were taught in houses and others under hedges.
    There were no schools that time because the teachers were forbidden by the English to teach, but in spite of the English they taught. There is a field near my house, where the old people were taught. It is called Fort na Scoláirí. There is a stone seat in this field and there (and) are a few names of the pupils which were (thaught) taught in the field written on the seat.
    The teachers who taught in this field were Patrick Kelly and P.J. Higgins. Some teachers used go around from
