    One moonlight night
    As the moon shone bright
    Oer the woodlands of Mayo
    All sounds were stilled
    As my young heart thrilled
    With a gleam of freedoms glow

    To the side of a rill
    At the foot of a hill
    My daddy brought me oer
    Saying now my chap
    Come and fill a gap
    And put on my Cóta Mór

    Some trusted men
    Are to meet in the glen
    With years Im growing old
    So for Banba's race
    You must take your place
