  1. In this district in former times the people did not wear shoes until they were from ten to twelve years of age.
    Children go barefoot in Summer, at present, but they wear shoes during Winter and Spring.
    Thomas O Donnell of Kilcara repairs shoes, but there are no shoemakers in the district.
    There were two shoemakers in Duagh by the names of Patrick Fitzmaurice and Denis Broderick, who made and sold shoes to the people of the surrounding districts.
