- In my district the customs attached to various feasts are observed as they occur each year.
Some of these are St. Stephen's Day, St Brigid's Day St John's Day and Halloween.
On St Stephen's Day groups of young boys with masks on their faces gather together and go around from house to house collecting money to bury the wren and singing the wren-song, which reads as follows: "The wren! the wren! the king of all birds, On St. Stephen's Day he was caught in the furze.
