  1. Four varieties of potatoes are grown on our farm the names being Queens, Arran Banners, Kerr Pinks and Epicures. The amount of land sown varies from half an acre to an acre.
    Sometimes we sow them in drills, but when we are tilling a new field we sow them in ridges. My father prepares the ground when we are sowing them in drills; but, when we are sowing them in ridges my brothers turn up the soil with spades of this type.
