  1. 1. There was a hedge school in this district long ago. The school was held in an old stone cabin which was situated near the place where the house of Thomas Sheehy is now in.
    2. The teacher's name was Mr. Cronin, a native of Duagh parish. He used to lodge in the farmers' houses in the district and he was paid by the parents of the pupils for the instruction he gave.
