My grandmother lived in a house in the bog...

    I
My grandmother lived in a house in the bog,
The swampiest cabin that ever she had,
She had chickens and geese in a very fine flock,
And the rogue of a gander the pride of the lot.
    II
My grandmother lived for nearly nine score,
And I in a hurry to get her in store.
Early one morning her breath it was caught
And she beckoned at me to take care of the lot.
    III
The night she was dead we had a great wake.
We had pipes and tobacco and snuff on a plate,
We had a full keg of Irish Poteen,
And we all got blind drunk and it held for a week.
    IV
The day of her funeral it was I dug her grave,
And the length that I gave it was nearly nine spades,
I danced on the top of it and they all got surprised,
And the reason I did was for fear she would rise.
    V
I got home and I don't know how, my prayers I think I said,
But at any rate I was paralized, when I got into bed.
