When the cat sits with his back to the fire it is the sign of bad weather.
When the hills look very near and clear, it is the sign rain will follow.
When the cat scrapes timber with his claw it is the sign of rain.
If the sky is red in the morning it denotes high wind or storm, and a rosy sunset denotes a fine day to follow.
If a rainbow appears on the sky on Friday evening it is the sign the following week will be bad.
When the wild geese are flying North it is the sign of frost.
When the crows are flying low and perching near the ditches it is the sign of a storm.
